Comal Heritage Food Incubator — the award-winning RiNo lunch counter and social enterprise that lifts up participants through economic opportunity — will host a party at the restaurant to mark its third anniversary. Bringing together family, friends and the ever-growing supportive community, Comal’s anniversary party will pay homage to its talented participants and all of their accomplishments since opening the doors in October 2016.
“I could not be more proud of the milestones that Comal has reached in the last year,” said Slavica Park, Founder of Comal and Director of Economic Opportunity for Focus Points Family Resource Center. “From seeing participants graduate from our training program and launch their own businesses, to being named one of 5280 Magazine’s best restaurants in Denver, the impact Comal is making in our community is truly tangible.”
Sponsored by the Denver Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs, Comal’s 3rd Anniversary Celebration is free of charge, but a donation of $20 or more is suggested and will support Comal’s program and ongoing educational initiatives.
At each anniversary party, Comal recognizes a few of its standout community supporters. This year, the ‘Comal Honors’ ceremony will pay tribute to the contributions of Chef Kelly Whitaker and Denver Westword Food + Drink Editor Mark Antonation, both who have been integral to the success of the program from the start.
