First Friday Calendar

Round 2! Hope to see you!

After a five year hiatus, Weilworks Gallery is back — and big!

Neighborhoods, featuring an extra large colorful painting by Tracy Weil will have it's second reception at Weilworks at on First Friday, December 7th from 6 to 8pm. Weilworks Gallery is located at 3611 Chestnut Place in the RiNo Art District in Denver. The public is invited to attend this free event.

Neighborhoods is a celebration of where we live, love, work and play, and a tribute to the four historic neighborhoods that comprise the RiNo Art District: Five Points, Cole, Elyria-Swansea, and Globeville. The exhibition highlight is an oil painting measuring 20-feet by 7-feet and fills the gallery’s main exhibition space.

With the district’s dramatic growth, Weil seeks to amplify the importance of respecting the energy and vitality of these long-established neighborhoods. “These are vibrant neighborhoods that have been here for generations,” notes Weil.

Tracy Weil is Co-Founder and Creative Director of RiNo Art District, and planted his roots in this growing community nearly 20 years ago. A lifelong painter, Weil's work is distinctive for its bold use of color and expressive, playful nature.

Known for his savvy in building community through the arts, Weil has fostered vibrant art districts throughout Colorado, including Lakewood and Aurora. A natural collaborator, Weil brings people and art together — with the tenacity of an advocate, the ease of a leader, and the heart of an artist.

“As the artist community grows in the district, it’s attracting other creative businesses as well as major development,” he says. “Art is the common thread and it’s our job as artists to lead, remind and document. I hope this new work will continue efforts to empower our community and change the paradigm of cultural displacement.”
