Artists of all disciplines, backgrounds, and genres are invited to apply to PlatteForum's Artist Residency program located in Denver, Colorado.
The PlatteForum Artist Residency offers selected artists a total of six to eight weeks of dedicated time, space and support to expand their practice, experiment, and elevate their work to a new level. Artists are given the opportunity to create a new body of work, create a dialogue around the work through our conversation series, share their work with the community, experience an opening and/or closing reception/performance, and have their artwork professionally photographed. Community connections nurtured by collaborations with organizations, schools, and individuals help strengthen and extend the artist’s aesthetic and network. Resident artists make a valuable contribution to our community’s cultural discourse, fostering personal growth for the artist, and positively impacting the lives of everyone involved.
PlatteForum’s Artist Residency program is one of the first of its kind in Denver, Colorado. Our competitive international program provides artists the time, space and support to create new work, explore new mediums, and share their work with the community. Each resident artist’s practice and work created during their residency must address a social justice issue and may be created through any creative discipline.
Resident artists are given full access to PlatteForum’s studio space during their residency. In return they are required to lead workshops with PlatteForum's ArtLab high school interns and other youth-serving groups, culminating in public exhibitions and/or performances created in collaboration with youth.
Residencies at PlatteForum are competitive with over 100 applications received and a total of 4-5 residencies awarded each season.
PlatteForum is a member of the Alliance of Artist Communities, an international organization that advocates for creative environments that support the work of today’s artists. Community connections nurtured by collaborations and partnerships with organizations, schools, and individuals that extend the artist’s aesthetic are integral to each residency at PlatteForum.
