In collaboration with PlatteForum's ArtLab interns, Resident Artist Ben Coleman will use a variety of techniques to create a project centering on youth voice. By investigating the implied and explicit messages present in the past decade’s spate of movies, comic books, and mixed media, "super" will feature the youth's perspective on these beliefs and values.

Join us at the opening reception for this adventure into a mix of writing, audio description, sound design, live adaptation, and video editing.

This is a free event, while all donations support PlatteForum's mission, vision, and values.

British multi-disciplinary artist Ben Coleman is PlatteForum's first resident artist of the 2019-2020 season. Currently residing in Denver, CO, Ben's practice encompasses performance, sonic art, music and mixed-media installation projects.

ArtLab is an innovative year-round, out-of-school program for youth from historically marginalized communities that integrates the creative process and arts-based learning with academic, personal, and professional skill development. As an intensive program, we are limited to 16 youth who go through a competitive application and interview process. Youth do not need to have an arts background. This program seeks youth who do not have access to learning through the arts and would benefit from structured immersion in the creative process.
