Vexillologies is a new exhibition created by resident artist Steven Frost in collaboration with PlatteForum's ArtLab intern program. Celebrate PlatteForum's new location at the newly renovated Savoy at Curtis Park, 2700 Arapahoe St.

Frost is a fiber and interdisciplinary artist in Boulder, Colorado. They are known for using materials typically designated to the realm of “crafts” and featuring them in higher brow art contexts or activist spaces. Community engagement is the primary objective of their practice. They host a monthly Colorado Sewing Rebellion (CSR) meeting in Boulder. At PlatteForum they will tailor aspects of CSR to meet the needs of PlatteForum's ArtLab interns. Participants will employ dying, sewing, embroidery, and appliqué techniques to design flags that represent their aspirations for our world. Using backstrap looms, the interns will make their own narrative woven compositions. In the final few weeks of the residency, Frost will work with the interns to create an exhibition and performance that explores their personal and cultural identities through garment construction and weaving.
