Colorado Chautauqua and Cal-Wood Education Center invite Front Range artists to transform handcrafted birdhouses made from trees lost in the Cal-Wood Fire into original works of art. Selected birdhouses will be exhibited at the Colorado Chautauqua National Historic Landmark from September 16–October 29, 2026, and auctioned online to support wildfire prevention and forest recovery efforts.
The opportunity is free to apply. Selected artists will receive a birdhouse to decorate, a $100 stipend, and a share of the auction proceeds. Artwork will help raise funds for Colorado Chautauqua's wildfire prevention initiatives and Cal-Wood Education Center's ongoing wildfire recovery work.
Timeline:
- August 10: Application deadline
- August 11: Selected artists notified
- August 14: Birdhouse pickup
- September 15: Completed birdhouses due & artist reception
- September 16–October 29: Public exhibition and online auction
