Visions West Contemporary is thrilled to announce "Brightness Bound," a solo exhibition of new works by Albuquerque-based artist Beau Carey. The show will open on Friday, October 3, 2025, with a public reception from 6–8 pm at the gallery's Denver location.

Beau Carey is renowned for his immersive landscape paintings that reflect both physical encounters with remote environments and a deep questioning of how we perceive space. His art challenges traditional landscape conventions, particularly in environments where there is no atmospheric perspective or stable point of reference.

Carey's compositions are built from memory and shaped by the concept of Notan, a Japanese design principle that balances dark and light. Beginning with cut-paper silhouettes drawn from remembered geographies, he distorts and reconfigures these fragments into patterns that reflect how we actually experience a place: fractured by movement, time, distraction, and emotion. The resulting paintings collapse multiple perspectives, horizons, and timelines into a single image, suggesting that our perception of the world is far more dynamic and unstable than traditional landscape painting allows.
