Compensation (Budget, Stipend, etc):
A $250,000 Budget

The City of Apache Junction is seeking a qualified regional public artist to design, fabricate, and install a permanent, site-specific sculpture for the center of a roundabout at State Route 88 and Superstition Boulevard. With a total budget of $250,000, the project calls for a highly visible, vertical landmark that reflects the area’s landscape, culture, and identity, particularly its relationship to the nearby Superstition Mountains, while meeting strict safety, durability, and low-maintenance requirements for a high-traffic roadway.

The selected artist will engage with the community, develop a feasible and context-responsive design, and oversee all aspects of production and installation. Open to experienced artists across several western states, the opportunity requires submission of qualifications, including work samples and references, by April 30, 2026, with selection and project milestones continuing through installation in early 2027.
