The Liu Shiming Art Foundation is accepting applications for its fourth annual Liu Shiming Artist Grants, supporting visual artists during the first decade of their careers. The grants support the creation of current or new projects that explore the interplay between traditional, cultural, or historical influences and contemporary artistic practice.
Up to five artists will receive $5,000 grants. Visual artists who have been working professionally for two to ten years are invited to apply. Final awardees will be selected by a distinguished panel of art-world professionals.
The grants continue the legacy of Chinese artist Liu Shiming (1926–2010), who dedicated much of his career to supporting and teaching younger generations of artists. The Liu Shiming Art Foundation is based in New York and supports contemporary art through grants, exhibitions, scholarships, and exchange opportunities.
