Mountain Standard Time is a summer group exhibition at Visions West Contemporary featuring artists whose work explores and reimagines the evolving identity of the American West.

Through contemporary perspectives and a wide range of media, the exhibition challenges long-standing Western myths—from Manifest Destiny and the colonial cowboy narrative to the idea of the frontier as an empty landscape. Instead, Mountain Standard Time highlights layered histories, Indigenous presence, collective resilience, and the intersections between land, culture, and identity.

The exhibition also explores the “Synthetic Frontier,” where digital culture and the realities of the modern West overlap. Some works offer direct critique; others bring humor, irony, and experimentation to the conversation. Together, they invite viewers to reconsider familiar imagery and engage with a more expansive and nuanced vision of the region.

On view throughout the summer.

On view: June 5 – August 30, 2026
