Visions West Contemporary presents Hansel, Gretel and the Wolf, a solo exhibition of new work by acclaimed artist Anne Siems. Reimagining the familiar figures of Hansel, Gretel, and the wolf from Little Red Riding Hood, Siems places them in a surreal woodland landscape shaped by contemporary anxieties around surveillance and technology.

In the exhibition, Hansel and Gretel become quasi-underground informants, using cameras and recording equipment to spy on those who are watching us, accompanied by animal allies and sheltered by the forest. The work considers the uncertainty created by pervasive surveillance in both physical and digital spaces, while balancing unease with beauty, resilience, and a sense of reclaimed agency.

The exhibition is on view September 4–October 3, 2026.

Opening Reception: Friday, September 4, 6–8 PM
