Compensation (Budget, Stipend, etc):
$1,000 finalist stipend; $50,000 project budget for selected team

Aspen Public Art, in partnership with Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES), invites professional creative teams—including artists, architects, designers, builders, and related disciplines—to propose a human-scale birdhouse inspired by Aspen's cultural vibrancy, natural history, and avian community.

The selected project will become a temporary public art and educational experience near the ACES Hallam Lake property, creating a space for visitors to gather, listen, learn, and connect with the natural environment.

Three finalist teams will develop conceptual proposals for exhibition at the Red Brick Center for the Arts in December 2026, with community voting determining the winning proposal. Each finalist team will receive a $1,000 stipend to develop its concept. The selected team will receive a $50,000 project budget for design, fabrication, and installation of the structure, which will be up to 120 square feet and installed through October 2027.

There is no fee to apply.
