The Roy W. Dean Short Film Grant supports independent filmmakers creating narrative short films that are unique, meaningful, and socially impactful. Open to filmmakers worldwide, the grant funds projects at any stage of production—from development through post-production—across both live action and animation.
The selected project receives a $3,000 cash award along with over $15,000 in production services, including equipment access, post-production support, music services, and distribution consultation. An additional Britt Penrod Award may be given to a second standout project.
Films must be under 40 minutes and demonstrate a clear artistic vision and contribution to society. Applications are due April 30, 2026, with finalists announced in August and the winner in September.
