Enjoy the arrival of sunnier pastures with the Steve Denny Quintet as they survey the mellifluous sounds of springtime every Friday in May. Spring is here and what better way to celebrate than by exploring a storied jazz repertoire replete with verdant themes. Hear songs of birth and renewal, smell the aroma of blooming lovesome flowers, frolic in bucolic surroundings filled with birds and rainstorms, revel in the frustrating filibuster of April blizzards, rejoice in wistful odes of love and perhaps raise a glass to some pertinent spring cleaning! Flanked by Colorado’s finest musicians, Steve will present arrangements of unforgettable standards, rarities and originals from the classic songsmiths Richard Rodgers and Cole Porter to great innovators like Joe Lovano and Billy Strayhorn. Come experience the “sweet fragrant meadows of dawn and dew” with this hard-swinging, soulful and tight-knit quintet. Featuring Gabriel Mervine (trumpet), Peter Sommer (saxophone), Seth Lewis (bass), and Dru Heller (drums).

An exquisitely emotive and multifaceted pianist, Steve Denny is an artist who creates indelible musical portraits through masterful virtuosity and touch. Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Steve has applied his expansive versatility as a pianist, composer and educator to the realms of jazz, classical, r&b, gospel and beyond. Steve was one of five finalists for the prestigious Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition in 2012 and 2015, and as a member of the University of Northern Colorado’s Lab Band I, received a Downbeat Magazine award in 2008. Steve holds a Bachelor of Arts in music from Loyola University Chicago and a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of Northern Colorado. Steve has released three albums with his trio, Life in the Basement; Life in New York and It’s Christmas Eve - available on all major platforms.
