Southwest Contemporary is seeking artists based in the North American Southwest for its Fall/Winter 2026–27 issue. This open call invites work in any medium that explores the theme of “alien” broadly - examining ideas of otherness, belonging, displacement, identity, and encounters with the unknown across personal, cultural, and political contexts.
The publication aims to highlight artists who engage with difference, challenge dominant narratives, and reflect on both isolation and connection, especially as these ideas relate to the Southwest’s unique cultural, geographic, and speculative landscapes.
Selected artists will receive a featured spread, editorial coverage, and promotion across Southwest Contemporary’s platforms.
