Sijia Chen Studio is seeking two Denver-area emerging artists to collaborate on a permanent public art commission for Denver Fire Department Station 40. Through the studio's Shared Vision Project, selected artists will participate in a community-based design process and create an original papercut-inspired digital design that may be incorporated into the final sculpture installation serving the Montbello and Green Valley Ranch communities.
This opportunity is open to emerging artists working across a range of visual disciplines, including illustration, mural art, graphic design, printmaking, textiles, sculpture, and public art. Artists with connections to Montbello, Green Valley Ranch, first responder communities, youth engagement, or neighborhood storytelling are especially encouraged to apply. Previous public art experience is not required.
Selected artists will participate in project workshops and planning meetings, develop an original design concept, and collaborate with Sijia Chen Studio throughout the design process.
Compensation
Selected artists will receive a $1,250 honorarium for workshop participation, design development, and final design delivery.

- Finalist Interviews: June 23, 2026
- Artist Selection: June 24, 2026
- Community Workshops Begin: June 27, 2026
- Final Design Due: September 30, 2026
- Artwork Fabrication: Early 2027
