Please join artist Alina Orav and moderator Sam Graboswska, PHD for an intimate evening of conversation about the work in Blood Ties starting at 7:30 PM on Saturday, July 27th.

Alina Orav is an Estonian-born visual artist based in Colorado. She holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in painting from the Estonian Academy of Arts, supplemented by fine art studies in Florence (IT) and Vancouver (CA), as well as internships in London (UK), Amsterdam (NL), and Volda (NO). Alina has exhibited in over 16 solo exhibitions in Estonia, and internationally in Vancouver (CA, 2015), Hamilton (CA, 2022), Helsinki (FI, 2018), and Ísafjörður (IS, 2020). She curated and designed a group exhibition at the Concourse Gallery (Vancouver, CA, 2015), featuring 22 international artists, as well as Estonia's 100th-anniversary exhibition at Galleria Kuja (Helsinki, FI, 2018). Alina's invention, the polyview image, earned her the State Real Estate Ltd Science and Development Grant (EE, 2017). She introduced it at the International Federation for Theatre Research World Congress in Belgrade (RS, 2018). Her first multiple-perspective animation was showcased in the Cathedral for Technology (EE, 2018).

Sam Grabowska, PHD is a multidisciplinary artist living and working in Denver, Colorado, USA. Working predominantly in sculpture, their installations aim to reconstruct the body after trauma. Grabowska has exhibited their work in museums and galleries across the US and Sweden. They hold a PhD in architecture with a cognate in cultural anthropology, an MH in interdisciplinary humanities, a BFA in film, and a BA in environmental design. Grabowska is the founder of Manifolding Labs, a research and consulting firm focusing on trauma-responsive spatial design.
