For over four decades, the Grammy-winning duo of Indigo Girls — Emily Saliers and Amy Ray — have built a legacy defined by powerful songwriting, unmistakable harmonies, and a deep connection with their audience. Since emerging from Atlanta’s alternative music scene in the late 1980s, the pair has released 16 studio albums, sold more than 15 million records, and become trailblazers for generations of Queer artists in mainstream music.

Their breakthrough self-titled album introduced enduring favorites like “Closer to Fine” and “Kid Fears,” launching a run of Gold and Platinum-certified records. Their latest release, Look Long, showcases the duo’s evolving artistry while staying true to the heartfelt storytelling and musical chemistry that have defined their career.

Beyond music, Indigo Girls have long been dedicated activists, supporting causes including LGBTQ advocacy, racial justice, reproductive rights, immigration reform, education access, and Native American rights.

In recent years, “Closer to Fine” found new life through its prominent feature in Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster film Barbie, introducing the duo to a new generation of listeners. Their acclaimed 2024 documentary, Indigo Girls: It's Only Life After All, offers an intimate look at their 40-year journey through archival footage and present-day reflections.

Celebrated as much for their live performances as their recordings, Indigo Girls concerts are known for their communal spirit and crowd-wide singalongs that transform each show into a shared experience. Their music continues to offer connection, comfort, and joy — proving that their influence and passion remain as strong as ever.
