Marcus Macabre is a multidisciplinary artist whose visual work synthesizes punk aesthetics, race consciousness, Afro-surrealism, and the grotesque into a language that feels both referential and wholly his own. His work calls to mind the irreverence and visual intelligence of Ralph Bakshi, but without slipping into imitation; instead, Marcus extends that lineage into a contemporary Black visual vocabulary that is raw, self-aware, and uncompromising.
At his first exhibition at MAE’S, viewers will recognize that they are encountering an artist with something urgent to say and the discipline to say it well.
There will be complimentary wine, DJs, and a special performance by Legs the Band!
