Professional Exempt, In-Person, Full-time, 40 hours/week, including frequent nights/weekends
Reports to: Executive Director, RiNo Art District
The Cultural Facilities & Events Director is a creative professional responsible for the day-to-day leadership and operation of the Art Park campus at Arkins Park (Art Park). This role oversees the coordinated management of the Truss House, Prep Kitchen/Restaurant, one-acre event lawn, shared campus spaces, as well as artist studios across the RiNo Art District. The position reports to the Executive Director of the RiNo Art District, works in close collaboration with RAD’s Programs Manager, as well as campus partners including Denver Parks & Recreation and the Bob Ragland Branch of the Denver Public Library (DPL), a key tenant within the Art Park at Arkins Park ecosystem.
This role stewards the facility side of a unique cultural ecosystem, shared with DPL and multiple arts and culture partners, ensuring that artists, chefs, creatives, neighbors, makers, musicians, performers, and community partners all have a well-run platform to amplify and incubate their cultural work.

The Cultural Facilities & Events Director reports to the Executive & Artistic Director and works closely with the Program Manager, forming a three-person team:
- Executive & Artistic Director – sets creative direction and curatorial vision for the campus
- Program Manager – manages and collaboratively curates mission-driven arts programming and community partnerships
- Cultural Facilities & Events Director – builds and manages the operational, revenue, and logistical foundation that makes it all possible
Core Responsibilities
1. Campus, Venue & Facilities Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Truss House, Prep Kitchen, Lawn, artist studios, and shared Art Park/Arkins Park spaces.
- Coordinate closely with the Bob Ragland Branch of Denver Public Library to harmonize creative activity, community use, and operational needs across the campus.
- Manage artist studios across the art district with support of on-site studio managers: leases, occupancy strategy, onboarding/offboarding, access, and communication with studio tenants.
- Serve as a strategic operational partner in evaluating programming feasibility, calendar balance, and revenue impact to support sustainable artistic and community goals.
- Oversee and coordinate campus-wide scheduling, booking systems, and long-term operational planning to align programming, revenue goals, staffing capacity, and facility readiness.
- Establish and uphold operational standards ensuring all spaces are safe, clean, accessible, and fully functional at all times.
- Manage vendor relationships (A/V, lighting, cleaning, security, tech, rentals).
- Review and interpret production requirements, including technical riders, and coordinate advancing with touring acts, vendors, and partners as needed to support successful events.
- Oversee ongoing maintenance and coordinate with the city, contractors, and partners on repairs or capital improvements.
- Implement and maintain systems for inventory, equipment management, and operational readiness.
2. Events Operations & Execution
- Lead all logistics for rental events (corporate, nonprofit, private, culinary, film, weddings, creative activations) at Truss House and across the Art Park campus.
- Oversee event setup/breakdown, staffing, floor plans, production schedules, and client communication.
- Manage the Truss House event calendar, ensuring alignment with RiNo’s artistic vision and district-wide partnerships.
- Support Program Manager–led programming (including gallery events and community programs) with operational and facilities coordination.
- Support collaborative programs with DPL taking place in shared or adjacent spaces, ensuring seamless logistics and communication.
- Serve as the primary on-site operational decision-maker during events, productions, and campus activations, resolving issues in real time.
- Ensure all permitting, compliance, safety, and legal requirements are met.
3. Food & Beverage Management and Operations
- Manage food & beverage staff, bar inventory, pricing, and purchasing.
- Create a profitable beverage program aligned with RiNo’s creative identity and partner events.
- Maintain all alcohol compliance, training certifications, logs, and SOPs.
- Develop bar packages and beverage service options for rentals and RiNo-produced events.
4. Earned Revenue Leadership
This position is the primary driver of Art Park’s earned revenue.
- Lead sales, pricing, and revenue strategy for:
- Venue rentals (Truss House, lawn, campus spaces)
- Bar program and beverage service
- Kitchen activations and culinary partnerships
- Artist studio rentals (management/occupancy strategy, district-wide)
- Add-on services (staffing, AV, cleaning, parking, etc.)
- Collaborate with the Program Manager to support venue-related earned revenue opportunities (sponsorships, rentals, receptions).
- Drive repeat bookings and cultivate new client relationships (corporate, nonprofit, private, creative).
- Build partnerships with producers, chefs, promoters, and curators whose work aligns with the Art Park vision.
- Lead revenue forecasting, reporting, and data analysis to inform pricing, staffing, scheduling, and investment decisions.
- Collaborate with the Executive & Artistic Director and Program Manager to balance revenue, mission, and community access.
- Monitor expenses, staffing costs, and vendor pricing to optimize margins while maintaining high-quality guest and artist experiences.
- Develop, manage, and report on operational budgets related to events, bar operations, rentals, studios, and campus activations, ensuring fiscal discipline and alignment with annual revenue targets.
Annual Earned Revenue Targets:
- Year 1: Minimum $500,000+ in combined rentals, bar, kitchen activations, studios, and add-on services
- Year 2: Scale to $750,000+ as operations mature
5. Systems, SOPs & Operational Excellence
- Build and refine the operational systems that make Art Park a well-run campus.
- Create SOPs for rentals, bar operations, safety, maintenance, opening/closing, scheduling, and event execution.
- Build and maintain SOPs for studio use, artist communications, and shared campus coordination with DPL staff.
- Maintain clear communication channels with staff, vendors, partners, and stakeholders.
- Track data for reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
- Ensure all activities align with RiNo’s cultural vision, community commitments, and equity values.
- Make informal, day-to-day financial and operational decisions related to pricing, staffing, vendor selection, and event execution in support of annual revenue targets and long-term sustainability.
6. Team Leadership & Staff Coordination
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise part-time bar and event staff, establishing clear expectations, service standards, and accountability.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and professional work environment that reflects Art Park’s values of creativity, hospitality, and community.
- Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and operational needs across events and programs in close partnership with the Program Manager and Executive & Artistic Director.
- Coordinate with DPL Bob Ragland Branch staff as campus partners, ensuring shared operational expectations and collaborative spirit.
- Serve as a calm, grounded, operational partner to complement the district’s creative leadership.

Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in venue management, event production, hospitality operations, or cultural facility leadership
- Demonstrated success generating earned revenue and managing budgets
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Experience managing food & beverage programs preferred
- Ability to work evenings/weekends as needed for events
- Ability to lift/carry event equipment (not required daily, but helpful during event setup/breakdown)
- A deep respect for artists, creatives, and community-centered programming
Salary and Benefits
- Classification: Professional Exempt, In-Person, 1.0 FTE
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience: $90,000 - 110,000
