Often compared to Nan Goldin and Andy Warhol, Shadows Gather is a photography project that documents the alternative nightlife scene and the colorful individuals that thrive in it. Based out of Denver, Colorado, Shadow uses non-conventional techniques, such as pairing a Fuji Instax Neo Classic Mini with lighting from an iPhone flashlight, as well as disposable 35mm cameras, to create striking instant photographs that preserve and celebrate underground culture. In her photos, you’ll find energetic portraits from a mixture of scenes—gutter punks, drag artists, creatures of the night—captured at warehouse parties, underground venues, and DIY spaces.

Her approach to photography rejects over-editing and sharp perfection—she believes that the perfect photo doesn’t need to be technically flawless; it can be blurred, grainy, or chaotic as long as it comes from the heart. This philosophy allows her to capture the raw emotions and authentic moments of underground culture without artificial polish.

You can often find her in abandoned warehouses, where she's known for organizing some of Denver’s best underground parties, drag shows, and photography socials. Recently, she has expanded her photographic approach by incorporating disposable 35mm cameras, adding a nostalgic, unfiltered quality to her images. These photographs, combined with her large-scale wheat-paste installations, create an immersive experience that seamlessly bridges the gap between underground nightlife and public art spaces.
