For this very special show, jazz vocalist Marion Powers and her quintet (Annie Booth - piano, Seth Lewis - bass, David Bernot - tenor) pay homage to the eternal Billie Holliday on what would have been Lady Day's 108th birthday.

Marion Powers is an award-winning jazz vocalist with dynamic improvisation skills and a modern, but sensitive approach to songwriting/arranging. While heavily influenced by classic jazz singers like Billie Holiday, Carmen McRae, and Sarah Vaughan, her experiences performing with or being mentored by Christian McBride, Dianne Reeves, Marshall Gilkes, Johnaye Kendrick, and Melissa Aldana have been instrumental to her artistic development.

Marion earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Jazz Performance from the University of North Texas. In addition to a busy performance calendar filled with dates in Colorado and throughout the United States, Marion maintains a worldwide voice studio and is a professor at the University of Northern Colorado.
