ABOUT THE ARTIST

Laura Pena is a wild child native to Colorado. Growing up in Fort Collins she was always exploring with color in her decorations found in her bedroom or loud pattern choices in her clothing. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art, emphasis in watercolor, from Western State University in Gunnison Colorado in 2009. It was a full decade later that she found her passion in art again. It wasn’t watercolor that she turned to it was a desire to throw paint loudly and passionately with a pallet knife on canvas with acrylic paint that became fulfilling. Her art is meant to show the passion for life, excitement in the journey that is created from allowing yourself to give into the paint. These paints are to show if you are given a chance to use every color of the rainbow…why wouldn’t you?

This show is a celebration of nature found in every color imaginable. While most canvases were covered in a background years before their purpose or imagination, they each have their own character to show a gratitude towards mother nature and the beautiful animals it has in it.
