The Denver Fringe Festival is a new annual performing arts festival that takes place at various venues across the Five Points neighborhood/RiNo Art District and online. We’re putting out an open call to artists for the poster design for the 2021 Denver Fringe Festival.
- Interested artists are asked to submit five examples of previous work.
- Three artists will be chosen by jury and awarded $100 to submit a design for the 2021 Denver Fringe Festival poster.
- From those three, one poster design will be chosen to promote the Denver Fringe Festival in June with potential application on our website, programs, and festival buttons worn by attendees, performers, volunteers and staff. The artist of the winning poster design will receive an additional $200 plus a free pass to all Denver Fringe Festival shows.
BACKGROUND
The Denver Fringe Festival is part of a worldwide phenomenon that started with the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 70 years ago when a group of maverick artists held their own festival on the “fringes”of the city. Now fringe festivals take place each year in most major cities worldwide. A fringe festival is characterized by bold, original, independent performance art -- typically unjuried and uncensored.
ABOUT THE DENVER FRINGE
The Denver Fringe Festival is an open-application festival designed to support all genres of performance arts and to attract bold, progressive artistry that is on the fringes of the mainstream theatre tradition. We support independent and emerging artists by encouraging new work, providing a variety of performance venues, promoting the festival and selling advance tickets online. We also support open access to the arts by making sure people can enjoy edgy, eclectic performance arts – original theatre, comedy, improv, cabaret, dance, magic, puppetry, aerial and other circus arts – at an affordable price.

HOW IT WORKS
Entry is free and open to everyone. Interested artists must submit five examples of past work by February 14th. Three artists will be selected and asked to come up with a poster design by February 28th. The final poster will be an 11” x 17” poster and must include the Denver Fringe Festival logo and the dates of the Denver Fringe Festival, June 24-27, 2021.
