The Riveter is excited to partner with Breaking the Bias, DIVersity and The Blind Institute of Technology as we take a hands-on approach to center people and talent with disabilities in our workplace. We will focus on a wide spectrum of experiences, aiming to build empathy through the lens of each employee’s unique journey through a workplace. We will then identify opportunities for improvement and techniques that help you build an organization where any deaf and visually impaired talent envisions themselves working there every day and being successful.

We know we cannot achieve equity of opportunity for all in the workplace if we aren’t inclusive of our colleagues with disabilities. Through becoming aware and exploring accessibility for blind, visually impaired and deaf talent, we can consciously choose to build a more inclusive workplace for all.

The goal is to move away from accommodations-thinking and into universal design where workplace culture and environments are usable by all people, to the greatest extent possible. This workshop demonstrates how diversity and inclusion impacts workplace culture, communication, and environment design. At the end of it, participants will gain a new understanding of how others move through space, how to disrupt their biases through conscious daily actions, and the tools to advocate for change tomorrow.

Everyone is welcome to attend. We need more allies at the table for blind, visually impaired and deaf talent.
