RedLine Contemporary Art Center and The Arvada Center for Arts and Humanities Present Floyd D. Tunson: Ascent.

Two major arts centers in the Denver metro area—The Arvada Center for the Arts & Humanities and RedLine Contemporary Art Center—will present works from the exhibition simultaneously.

On display at RedLine Contemporary Art Center: June 10–July 31, 2022

Floyd Tunson is one of Colorado’s most important contemporary artists. For over 50 years, he has fearlessly and innovatively created art from his keen cultural perspective, taking on identity, race, and history through his artwork. Tunson came of age during the Civil Rights era in the Five Points-Curtis Park neighborhood, which continues to inform his practice today.

An incredibly influential educator for 30 years in the public school system, Tunson’s impact extends beyond the art world. This survey of Tunson’s career is co-curated by Daisy McGowan (Galleries of Contemporary Art, UCCS) and Wylene Carol.

Also on view at RedLine: The Black Power Tarot exhibition, which includes 22 large scale fabric printed tarot cards created by King Khan & Michael Eaton, under the supervision of Alejandro Jodorowsky.
