The car company Oakland was part of General Motors company starting in 1909. In the 1920s' Oakland started producing the Pontiac to bridge the gap in pricing. Oakland sold more Pontiac vehicles than the Oakland brand. In 1931, GM phased out Oakland and continued with Pontiac.
