Leslie is a contemporary painter working in oils and acrylics. She creates images of her experiences skiing, hiking, biking and traveling in the Rocky Mountains and the West.
Her award-winning series Art of the Backcountry is about her explorations in the mountains and the power of these wild places. The series arose from her background as a landscape painter but is crafted in a more expressive, contemporary style. “My landscapes are not idealized versions of pristine places. They’re intentionally expressive to tell the story of the human experience in these places. We ski these mountains, climb these cliffs, snowmobile on the snowy slopes. That affects the landscape and it, in turn, affects us. I’m interested in this complicated relationship we have the wild places we love.”
