Nicole Korbe is a self-taught artist originally from the high desert of New Mexico and has resided in the Denver area for the last 20 years. Nicole discovered a talent for painting in her mid-40s, and soon after gave up her full-time career to pursue her passion. She currently works primarily either in oils combined with cold wax medium on wood panels or acrylic pigments on canvas. She uses palette knives, squeegees and improvised methods to apply and scrape through multiple layers of pigment and medium. Her technique is largely intuitive and finished pieces often reveal past memories or experiences, frequently evocative of landscapes, natural or man-made, something riding on the edge of imagination and reality.
