Sarah Nix is a visual artist and poet living in Denver. She received a BFA in 2006 from Herron School of Art and Design, Indianapolis. She has recently exhibited work at Core New Art Space in Denver CO, as well as the Lone Tree Art Center in Lone Tree, CO. Her poems have appeared in CALYX Journal, Rust + Moth, Blue Lyra Review, DIALOGIST, and others.
Sarah is drawn to objects that have been used as symbols in religious icons and vanitas paintings. By placing these symbols in a new context—the artist's studio—parallels begin to emerge between the objects’ traditional meanings and the process of creating art.
